Native
from the town of Sfax, where he pursued his studies up to
the secondary level. He carried out his architectural training at the ITAAUT
in Tunis.
A tutorial supervision by a teaching staff from various countries and horizons
together with a number of journeys and training periods effected during
his studies allowed him, beyond his sensitivity to his Arabic and Muslim
culture, to open up to universality.
His relation with architecture, which started almost 30 years ago, enriched
itself from day to day in a quite physical pleasure, manifesting itself
in the dreams concretizing in the projects designed for his customers and
thus converting his rather intuitive architectural reflections.
The fact that his architecture developed within a context of Tunisia
going through a major promotional expansion did, however, not distract him
from his deep conviction that architecture can only be exercised in
a respected and protected environment. Thus, to him architecture and landscape
are two interactive and indissociable entities. This thorough conviction
and desire can be felt in all his work, finding its supreme achievement
in the projects of Tamerza Palace and Tataouine. |
